How Mexico killed the powerful drug kingpin ‘El Mencho’ and what it means

Mexico’s security forces on Sunday killed Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, the nation’s most powerful cartel leader, after he was wounded during an attempted arrest in Jalisco state and died while being transferred to Mexico City. His killing marks the highest-profile blow against cartels in a decade and sparked a wave of arson and road blockades across large parts of the country.
