A long-awaited sequel from Adam Sandler, a Charlize Theron action-thriller, and the return of Lena Dunham are among some of the most anticipated additions to Netflix UK in July.
In the world of movies, a number of high-profile names come to the streamer for Netflix original movies. Adam Sandler returns to one of his most famous roles in Happy Gilmore 2, a sequel to the 1996 comedy about a man who becomes an unlikely golf prodigy. Original castmembers Christopher McDonald and Julie Bowen return alongside new additions Bad Bunny and Travis Kelce. The film is released July 25.
Other originals include Charlize Theron returning in action thriller The Old Guard 2 (July 2), and Tyler Perry comedy Madea’s Destination Wedding (July 11). July also sees some classics coming to the service, including 2002 Tom Cruise Sci-fi Minority Report (July 1), and Oscar winner Oppenheimer (July 12). Hunger Games fans can enjoy 2023 prequel The Ballad Of Songbirds And Snakes from July 1.
Two high profile original series also come along in July, with the return of Lena Dunham for her first TV creation since 2018’s Camping. The Girls star writes, directs, and produces Too Much, the story of Jessica (Megan Stalter) who moves to London after the breakup of a relationship. Her plans to live in isolation are scuppered by the arrival of a handsome British musician in her life. Season one debuts July 10.
There’s also the highly anticipated second season of Netflix original The Sandman, the fantasy series based on the comic book by Neil Gaiman. It was confirmed the second season will be the last and released in three parts on July 3, July 24, and July 31 respectively.
Previous aired series being added to the service in July include Yellowstone prequel 1923 (July 9), the seventh season of Young Sheldon (July 1), and multiple seasons of period drama Harlots (July 1).
