“We’re an active WhatsApp group if not a performing group,” is how Gruff Rhys described the status of Super Furry Animals when I talked to him back in September. This was just a few days before the band announced they were reuniting in 2026 for their first tour in a decade. Gruff has a good poker face.
Gruff and I talk about Super Furry Animals, his great new solo album Dim Probs and more on the new episode of the BV Interviews podcast. Other topics: releasing the album on Mogwai’s Rock Action label, the Welsh DIY music that inspired it, his recent US tour celebrating the 10th anniversary of his album American Interior, missing the Oasis reunion shows in Cardiff, that time Super Furry Animals toured with Oasis 20 years ago, raves in the Welsh countryside, working with illustrator Pete Fowler and the merch opportunities with Dim Probs‘ very cute artwork, plus five records he thinks everyone should own, and more.
You can listen to our whole conversation on the BV Interviews podcast below or wherever you get your podcasts.
Gruff will be playing a few US show in support of Dim Probs in November, including Brooklyn’s Littlefield on 11/19.
