France’s public media reform faces strikes and heated assembly debates

France’s National Assembly resumed discussions on the controversial public broadcasting reform, which aims to consolidate France Télévisions, Radio France, and the National Audiovisual Institute (INA) into a single entity, France Médias. The reform has faced significant opposition from unions and left-wing parties, leading to strikes and protests. A verbal altercation between Culture Minister Rachida Dati and an assembly official temporarily halted the proceedings, but debates are expected to continue in the coming days.
