Floods and landslides hit Indonesia’s Sumatra

A wave of tropical cyclones passing through south and southeast Asia have wreaked havoc in their wake, leaving at least 867 people dead in Indonesia.

One survivor described the floods as a “mini tsunami”, evoking memories of the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami that severely impacted the country.
