Evan Dando hospitalized after being accused of sending unsolicited explicit video to fan

The Lemonheads frontman Evan Dando has been hospitalized after being accused of sending unsolicited pornographic videos to a fan. A statement from Dando’s representative to Variety reads, “Evan Dando has long struggled with mental health issues dating back to his childhood. He’s been admitted to a local hospital where he’s receiving comprehensive help from experienced doctors and mental health professionals.”

The allegations surfaced in scientology-focused Substack The Underground Bunker, where an unidentified reader’s wife, who is given the pseudonym “Dawn,” says that she tweeted back and forth with Dando in the past. More recently, however, she says she received explicit and unprompted videos of Dando masturbating via direct message on two separate occasions. She describes feeling embarrassed and anxious about it, and says she sent a message to TMZ’s tip line but got no response. “It’s so gross,” she told The Undergrond Bunker, adding, “I don’t want him to do this to anyone else. It’s just a gross feeling.” Read the full report here.

Ireland’s Forest Fest Music Festival also recently shared a statement cancelling the band’s planned performance at its 2026 edition. It reads:

Unfortunately, The Lemonheads will now not be touring Europe during summer 2026. It is therefore with regret that they have to cancel their confirmed appearance at Forest Fest in Ireland on Friday 24th July.

This date was originally due to be part of a wider run of festival dates at this time and unfortunately, due to some of these not materialising, it was becoming financially difficult to make a European trip work.

The Lemonheads are understandably disappointed not to be able to perform in Ireland and were very much looking forward to Forest Fest and being part of this year’s event They would like to thank the organisers for their understanding, and of course regret disappointing any ticket holders woh have purchased a ticket to see the band perform.

Their agent, Neil O’Brien (Motion) and manager Alan McGee (Creation) said:

“It is with regret that we have had to cancel this performance with the band. We work closely with Forest Fest to deliver many great artists to this great event – we believe it is one of the very best festival in Ireland and we hope to see The Lemonheads return to fulfil their booking next year”

Forest Fest is currently finalising details of a replacement and looks forward to announcing a new addition to the line-up very shortly.

The band also have fall UK shows that are still on sale. They played a single show so far in 2026, at Lucinda’s in NYC, a day after appearing on Fallon.
