European heavyweights join Rasmus Hojlund race with loan offer that could suit everyone – report

Manchester United have a forward in their ranks that Serie A heavyweights would love to get their hands on.

However, admiration is one thing, convincing the player is another, and affording him is a different matter altogether.

Relaying reports from transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, The Peoples Person recently highlighted that Rasmus Hojlund has no desire to leave United.

The striker has left the club with no doubt about his intentions.

Yet, despite his desire to stay and improve on his record of 26 goals in 95 games, interest in his services is not going away.

Hojlund: A wanted man in Italy

Speaking to Norwegian outlet Tipsbladet, Italian transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio candidly addressed Hojlund’s persistent links to a return to Serie A.

While links to Inter Milan have faded, Di Marzio claims the United number nine is still a wanted man in Italy.

Any top Serie A side in need of a striker cannot help but toy with the idea of signing him.

AC Milan are interested but have one or two issues to resolve before making a move, likely towards the end of the summer transfer window.

Roma are the ones seriously pushing for Hojlund

While Milan remains uncertain, AS Roma, according to Di Marzio, are looking to steal a march in the race for his signature.

Some might forget, but before his move to Manchester, Hojlund was billed as the next big thing.

His transfer was considered a masterstroke.

Back then, watching him at Atalanta under Gian Piero Gasperini (or with the Denmark national team), some labelled him a hitman for hire, such was the danger he posed in front of goal.

That brilliance in Bergamo could now earn him a reunion.

Gasperini, now at Roma and keen to bolster his attack, wants him signed as a replacement for Tammy Abraham.

INEOS, as quoted by the Norwegian source, are thought to want around £24 million.

But most of Hojlund’s suitors, even Roma, are not convinced about a permanent deal.

“Roma will likely enter the scene because Gasperini really likes him, but it can only succeed as a loan deal,” says Gianluca Di Marzio.

It will be interesting to see whether the Red Devils consider sending their £72 million 2023 summer signing out on loan.

Either way, a loan switch could be a good idea.

Hojlund could rediscover his brilliance in familiar territory, impress, and allow INEOS to sell him for far more than the modest fee they would otherwise have to settle for (this summer).
