Fans think that The 1975 might have teased a new album at the end of their Glastonbury 2025 headline set.

Matty Healy and co. closed out the Pyramid Stage at Worthy Farm on Friday (June 27) to mark their debut headline performance at the festival, where they last played in 2016.

As the band walked off stage, a singular cryptic word flashed in red across the stage: “Dogs”, which fans are now interpreting as a hint at some upcoming material.

The word was also plastered on drummer George Daniels’ drumkit throughout the set, leading some to think it may be the title of a new album.

Speculation about a new era has been rife since The 1975 confirmed their return to the live stage, changed their logo and updated their social media profiles in March this year.

Rumours were then confirmed when the band’s manager and Dirty Hit label boss Jamie Oborne recently confirmed that a follow-up to 2022’s acclaimed ‘Being Funny In A Foreign Language‘ was in fact on the way, saying: “They’re making a record at the moment. I don’t know when it will come out, but they’re making one.”

He added that “it’s already a pretty extraordinary record” and he has a “constant discourse about it” with the band. “I think they’ve earned the right to take their time,” he continued. “The world’s gonna be listening, so it needs to be right.”

Oborne also confirmed that their Glastonbury performance will be the only chance to see them live in 2025. “It’s such a big gig, and it’s the only show that we’re playing this year,” he explained. “[Matty Healy] thought doing it in isolation would be a really powerful thing.”

Ahead of their headlining slot, it was reported that the band had “spent four times their actual fee” on production for the show – their set design for Glasto comprised of four LED walls, each brandishing the name of each 1975 member and a treadmill that ran across the stage.

So far, Glastonbury has seen a surprise set from Lorde – who performed her new album ‘Virgin’ in full (and scored a five star review in the process), a spunky set from Wet LegLewis Capaldi’s triumphant return for a secret set at the Pyramid Stage, a surprise appearance by Peter Capaldi at Franz Ferdinand’s set and more.
