Derby debacle aftermath: United star who had a shocker vs City to be ruthlessly cast aside by INEOS – report

Manchester United had a game to forget at the Etihad as Manchester City romped to a 3-0 win on Sunday in the Manchester derby.

Ruben Amorim’s puzzling selection calls did not help, nor did the disastrous performance from members of the backline.

The normally reliable Leny Yoro had one of his worst outings in a United shirt, while the ease with which Luke Shaw got beaten for the opening goal will not have pleased the head coach.

Jeremy Doku, who is a one-trick pony, breezed past the England international, who did not even give his all to try and atone for his error.

Subsequently, he got bullied for the second goal by Erling Haaland, and now, as per Givemesport, INEOS have seen enough and want to get rid.

The Englishman’s injury record has been dismal, but he always tends to perform when it comes to trying to earn a new contract.

But based on Sunday’s evidence, the 30-year-old does not deserve a new deal, with his current one expiring in 2027.

Luke Shaw is no longer the same athlete out wide, hence why he is being played as a left-sided centre-back. Once Lisandro Martinez returns, the ex-Southampton ace is likely to return to the bench.

The 20-time English league champions have Patrick Dorgu and Diego Leon out wide, which means even that space is occupied.

INEOS want to get rid

And paying £200,000-a-week for a bench-warmer prone to injuries is not something INEOS want to continue doing.

“United have been working towards saying farewell to Luke Shaw for some time with the injury-prone £200,000-a-week defender no longer seen as a reliable squad member.

“And his departure could well be accelerated with new teenage signing Diego Leon raising eyebrows, including making an appearance on the bench for the Manchester derby on Sunday.”

Luke Shaw had been linked with an exit in the summer, but ended up staying. It remains to be seen if the club opt to sell in January, or if they soldier on till next summer before taking the final call.
