Days of Our Lives spoilers see there is no doubt that Stephanie Johnson (Abigail Klein) and Alex Kiriakis (Robert Scott Wilson) are head over heels in love. They’re very excited about what the future holds. But there is actually big trouble ahead for these two.
Days of our Lives Spoilers: Stephanie and Alex Take the Next Step?
Right now, things are good, just at this moment. But everything’s about to change. Stephanie is now a best-selling author with a hunk of a boyfriend. And Alex really wants to move their relationship to the next level. Alex loves Stephanie, and she loves him. So, I was more than a little stunned that Stephanie didn’t jump up and down and immediately accept Alex’s invitation to move in.
I thought she’d be thrilled and say yes right away. But she does want to have a little discussion with her roommate, Jada Hunter (Elia Cantu). That could solve part of the situation. But not all of it. I can see Stephanie wanting to talk things over with Jada first. After all, Stephanie did ask Jada to be her roommate after she and Rafe Hernandez (Galen Gering) broke up.
As the police commissioner, let’s be real, Jada has no problems paying rent if Stephanie moves out and Jada is in that little apartment alone, or Jada can go get her own apartment. Let’s be real, though, this is more than just Stephanie worried about her roommate paying rent. And also more than about Alex’s apartment being slovenly and smelly. It could be that Stephanie is having some cold feet about living with Alex because of her own wonky romantic past. We all know Stephanie does not have a great track record when it comes to men.
Days of our Lives Spoilers: Stephanie Johnson’s Rocky Romantic History: From Chad DiMera to Everett Lynch
She already told Alex that when she and Chad DiMera (Billy Flynn) moved in together, that’s when everything began to fall apart. Then again, Stephanie and Chad were moving way too fast. He was still grieving. And his kids were involved, so that’s a drastically different situation than what is going on with her and Alex.
But even before Chad, Stephanie had some serious boyfriend problems, like her most recent deranged and deluded ex, Everett Lynch (Blake Berris). Remember him? The guy who was married to Jada but proposed to Stephanie because he had a split personality. He wound up in a coma, then woke up and came back to Salem. And he didn’t remember the personality that was married to Jada. It was just messy. Everything went sideways.

Jeremy Horton’s Return: Stephanie’s Book Sparks Danger on Days of our Lives
We also have Stephanie slightly concerned about another volatile ex, and that concern is growing along with the success of her raunchy romance novel, One Stormy Night. If you remember, there were some passages that she asked Alex to make sure were cut out of the book and didn’t make it into the final print and e-book version. But somehow, even though Stephanie told him it was important, Alex dropped the ball. And those passages are still in there.
Stephanie is really worried because they are some real-life aspects of her relationship with her toxic ex-boyfriend, Jeremy Horton. So, Stephanie is quite worried that Jeremy might see this book, read it, recognize it. And realize, “Oh, Stephanie Johnson, my ex, wrote this book, and she put me into it.” And that could be problematic.
It looks like Michael Roark may be playing the role of Jeremy Horton this fall when we have Dr. Tom Horton (Zach Chyz) coming back to Salem for the opening of the EJ DiMera (Dan Feuerriegel)-funded Dr. Tom Horton Free Clinic. Because Michael Roark has been cast, and because of his look, his age. And the timing, I feel like he’s probably going to be Jeremy Horton.
Days of our Lives Spoilers: The Horton Free Clinic Opens Soon
The Horton Free Clinic is supposed to open its doors this November. That means by the time Jeremy comes to town, he is probably going to have seen Stephanie’s best-selling book. Or maybe he’ll be in Hortontown Square and see it prominently on display in Julie Williams’s (Susan Seaforth Hayes) bookstore and pick up a copy. It looks like Jeremy may recognize some very intimate and personal details in those pages.
Then, will Jeremy come for Stephanie? Is he going to be obsessed? Is Jeremy going to think that because Stephanie included that stuff in the book that somehow he still matters to her? Something like that? We could see both Stephanie and Alex in danger because of her ex. Stephanie already told Alex that she has a messy romantic history. But I think we should expect that history of hers to overlap with her present. It could go from messy to downright dangerous when they introduce Stephanie’s past with Jeremy into her present with Alex on Days of our Lives.
Halloween Horror in Salem: Alex Kiriakis in Peril?
We also have Kate Roberts (Lauren Koslow) pressuring Stephanie to get busy on that next book. It’s supposed to be released in October, supposedly a little murder mystery just in time for Halloween. Could it be that there’s a new Salem slasher who decides to bring the new best-selling book to real life?
The extended summer promo, if you don’t remember, showed a costumed attacker going after Alex, Chad, and Kate. So maybe Alex will get hurt this Halloween, or something really devastating will happen. Then again, it’s pretty common for the Days of Our Lives writers, at least with Ron Carlivati (former head writer) before, to concoct some ghoulish fun for Halloween. And they create a standalone episode or a really bad nightmare for one of the characters. So, we may get that again this year. It could be Alex’s turn to have a terrifying dream, or it could be Stephanie’s nightmare that Alex is hurt.
Joy Wesley’s Return: Alex’s Baby Mama Drama
There’s also another source of trouble that could turn up on Stephanie and Alex’s doorstep. We could see Joy Wesley (AlexAnn Hopkins) back in Salem for the holidays, very pregnant and about to pop, or with her and Alex’s newborn baby in her arms. If you remember, Joy lied to both Stephanie and Alex when she told them that the pregnancy test was negative before leaving town last spring.
Joy could change her mind and return. And maybe she sees an engagement announcement if Stephanie and Alex do move things forward, and that may prompt her to come back with the baby. Of course, we don’t know for sure if Joy decided to keep the baby once she left Salem. But signs pointed to her doing that. It would make for some really good soapy drama if Joy kept the baby and then decided to come back to fight for Alex.
Although things were looking really good for Stephanie and Alex, I think this debate/disagreement over moving in together could be a red flag of much harder times to come for this duo. They are in love. But sometimes, especially on a soap, love is not enough to get you through.
Between the very real threat of Stephanie’s ex, Jeremy Horton, coming back looking for revenge. And the possible threat of Alex’s baby mama, Joy, returning to Salem, it could be a very rocky road for Stephanie and Alex this fall. So, we’ll see what happens.
