Crypt Sermon released one of 2024’s best metal releases with The Stygian Rose, an epic heavy metal album from the Philadelphia band that shares members with Horrendous and many others. They’ve now revealed that four unreleased songs from those sessions are coming on a new EP called Saturnian Appendices.
“Conceptually, the new tracks ‘Only Ash and Dust’ and ‘A Fool to a Believe’ illuminate the shadowed thoughts of the narrator from ‘The Stygian Rose,’ expanding on the tensions that arise as one confronts the conflicts between orthodoxy and occult,” says vocalist Brooks Wilson.
The full EP arrives August 8 via Dark Descent, and track “Only Ash and Dust” is available to stream now. Listen to that, and check out cover art and tracklist, below.
The band, who don’t play that often, even in NYC despite their proximity, have also announced three release shows (all in PA and NYC) in addition to a handful of festival dates. The NYC date is 9/26 at Gold Sounds. Before the East Coast run, Crypt Sermon have a few European shows, and will also play Madison, WI’s Blades Of Steel Metal Festival. All dates are all listed below.
