Cristiano Ronaldo breaks silence after disappointing season and contract renewal with Al Nassr

After signing his new contract until 2027, Cristiano Ronaldo finally breaks the ice regarding the upsetting 2024-25 Al Nassr season.

Cristiano Ronaldo has dominated headlines in recent days amid swirling speculation about his future and potential participation in the FIFA Club World Cup 2025. After a frustrating end to the 2024–25 season with Al Nassr and the decision to renew his contract, the Portuguese star has finally addressed fans with a direct and honest message.

Al Nassr’s campaign fell short of expectations. The club failed to win the Saudi Pro League and didn’t qualify for the next edition of the AFC Champions League. With Ronaldo’s contract set to expire in June 2025, his future became a hot topic. Despite receiving multiple offers, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner ultimately chose to commit his future to the club.

In a teaser clip from an upcoming interview to be released by Al Nassr on Saturday evening, Ronaldo opened up with a candid message aimed at teammates and fans, setting the tone for what’s next. “We are not happy for what’s happened the last season,” he said via the club’s official account.

One of the main questions surrounding Ronaldo’s future in Saudi Arabia was whether the level of competition could keep him motivated. But with a new deal now in place through June 2027—reportedly one of the most lucrative contracts in sports history—Ronaldo has made his intentions clear.

For the 2025–26 season, Al Nassr will not feature in the AFC Champions League, leaving the Saudi Pro League and the King’s Cup as their top priorities. Still, keeping Ronaldo signals a major win for Saudi Arabian soccer, which will continue to benefit from the global icon’s presence for at least two more years.

Ronaldo doubles down on faith in Al Nassr’s project

Questions have swirled around Al Nassr’s squad construction in recent seasons. The signing of Jhon Durán has faced scrutiny, while players like Aymeric Laporte are reportedly open to leaving if the right offer comes. Despite that uncertainty, Ronaldo has thrown his support behind the club’s direction.

But of course we have to mention the highness, our Crown Prince, he is doing amazing work, an amazing job… I believe in the project, I believe in Al Nassr, I believe in the fans,” were the phrases Ronaldo concluded his message.
