China, Germany talk up cooperation as Merz visits Beijing

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz met with China’s leader Xi Jinping in Beijing for talks on Wednesday, during his inaugural visit to his country’s largest trade partner. Both Beijing and Berlin have been talking up deeper economic cooperation in the run up to the talks. France 24’s correspondent in Beijing Jan Camezind Broomby has the latest.
