China and the US reach a trade deal, temporarily lowering steep tit-for-tat tariffs

China and the United States reached a trade agreement on Friday, months after President Donald Trump slapped sweeping tariffs one of the world’s biggest economies. The deal includes an accord on how to expedite rare earth shipments from China to the US, a top priority for Washington.
