Chelsea are continuing to monitor Alejandro Garnacho’s situation at Manchester United, with the winger remaining a target despite recent attacking additions at Stamford Bridge.
The London club have signed Liam Delap, Jamie Bynoe-Gittens and Joao Pedro in quick succession, but these moves have not ended their pursuit of other forward options, claims The Athletic.
Garnacho has seen his future at Old Trafford become increasingly uncertain following United’s Europa League final defeat to Tottenham Hotspur.
The Argentina international was left on the bench for that game by manager Ruben Amorim, only featuring from the 71st minute, despite being a key contributor en route to the final.
His omission reportedly caused friction behind the scenes, leading to suggestions that he may be open to a move away this summer, with Chelsea and Napoli both named as potential destinations.
While United remain reluctant to lose one of their most talented young players, financial pressures and Amorim’s desire for transfer funds may force the club to consider offers.
United, meanwhile, are progressing on their own transfer front, with advanced negotiations ongoing for Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo.
They have already completed their first signing of the window, securing Matheus Cunha from Wolves for £62.5 million.
With both additions offering attacking flexibility, United are now focused on raising funds to finance the arrival of an experienced number nine.
To do so, they will need to sanction significant sales—and Garnacho, despite his talent and popularity, is seen as one of the players who could command a substantial fee.
Selling the Argentine would give Amorim both budgetary room and a cleaner tactical slate heading into his first full season in charge.
According to TEAMtalk, Chelsea believe they are in a stronger position than Napoli due to their greater financial capacity and remain in dialogue with United over a potential deal.
Garnacho is said to be open to the move, with the prospect of relocating to London viewed positively despite the rivalry between his current club and the Blues.
Sources close to the deal indicate that Chelsea are waiting for the right moment to formalise their interest in Garnacho, potentially moving once United’s internal reshuffle progresses further.
