Chelsea boss sends United firm message as INEOS keep pushing to sign their new kid on the block – report

Manchester United are expected to add to their forward line in the summer despite Benjamin Sesko’s red-hot form.

The Slovenian has finally come alive since his summer move, scoring six goals in eight games since Ruben Amorim’s departure.

Michael Carrick has mainly used him as a super-sub until now, but next season, when United are expected to challenge on all four fronts, the 22-year-old is likely to be given the nod to start up front.

The Red Devils are likely to part ways with Joshua Zirkzee in the summer, while academy sensation Chido Obi looks to be heading out on loan instead of cutting his teeth with the academy.

Liam Delap again

Which is why the 20-time English league champions will look to bring in a backup, and as seen from previous INEOS dealings, they prefer players with Premier League experience.

Jason Wilcox remains a huge fan of Chelsea’s Liam Delap, whom United tried to sign in the summer, only for the Blues to win the race.

The Old Trafford faithful will not have been too disappointed to miss out on the former Ipswich Town ace given Sesko’s exploits.

On the other hand, Delap has struggled for any real consistency, managing a mere two goals and four assists for the Stamford Bridge outfit.

Chelsea don’t want to lose him

Multiple reports have stated that the London side are open to moving the 23-year-old on, either on loan or permanently, but Football Insider have claimed that is not the case.

New manager Liam Rosenior does not want to lose the ex-Manchester City youth graduate unless an able replacement is brought in.

“Chelsea manager Liam Rosenior is reluctant to lose Liam Delap this summer.

“Rosenior will not sanction a sale unless further attacking reinforcements come through the door at Stamford Bridge.”

United will have far better options on the market than the 23-year-old, and it is best if INEOS look elsewhere.
