Check out Cast frontman John Power’s new song in tribute to Oasis icon Bonehead

Bonehead and Cast's John Power at the Oasis reunion shows in Cardiff, July 2025

Cast frontman John Power has written a lighthearted ballad in celebration of Oasis guitarist Bonehead. Check it out below.

The jokey new song was shared on the guitarist’s Instagram page last night (July 6), following Oasis kicking off the first two shows of their long-awaited comeback tour in Cardiff this weekend.

For both shows, and for upcoming gigs too, Cast are enlisted as support, alongside The Verve frontman Richard Ashcroft.

In the footage, Power is seen in a lighthearted moment, seemingly backstage at the shows, holding an acoustic guitar and belting out an improvised ballad in tribute to Paul “Bonehead” Arthurs.

You’ve got your head on your shoulders, Bonehead,” he is heard belting in the black and white footage, repeating the guitarist’s name in a country-blues style. Check it out below.

The tribute has got some love from fans too, with one joking that the song should be shared and titled ‘Bonehead Blues’, while another urged for them to join forces in a “Cast/Oasis crossover”.

“It’s like I’m 17 again and it’s 1995. What a vibe,” a third quipped, while Cast themselves took to the comment section to write: “HAHAHAHAHAHA. This is the new Boneheads bank holiday”.

Cast aren’t the only ones sharing words of praise for Bonehead recently, either. While on stage for the second of their shows at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium on Saturday (July 5), Noel Gallagher revealed the guitarist was the one responsible for the current Oasis reunion tour. “If it wasn’t for him, none of this would have happened,” he said, introducing his bandmates between the songs.

The night before (July 4), both bands took to the stage for the first of the comeback shows, and Cast played a variety of their biggest songs, and also used the set to pay their respects to Liverpool star Diogo Jota, who tragically died on Thursday (July 3) at the age of 28. They did this by breaking out the song ‘Walkaway’, followed by the 1997 hit ‘Flying’.

Speaking to NME ahead of the reunion tour, Power told us about the moment that he and his bandmates discovered that they’d be part of the line-up for the Oasis shows. “We’re blown away by it. We had the nod and were just waiting for the official announcement,” he said at the time. “Now we can bask in it. It’s a stamp of approval from our peers, and I appreciate that massively.”

As for the first of the 41 comeback shows from Oasis, NME gave the historic night the full five stars. “After a ‘90s heyday and an often maligned post-millennium era, this is Oasis redesigned for the 21st Century,” the review read.

“Playing before a pop-art-meets-psychedelia visual spectacular that never distracts but will look sick on a phone, they seem the quintessential stadium band playing the greatest hits of greatest hits.”

Oasis will now play five homecoming shows at Manchester’s Heaton Park, followed by seven nights at London’s Wembley Stadium and stops in both Edinburgh and Dublin. Later on the Oasis Live ’25 trek, they’ll head to North America, South America, Australia, South Korea and Japan.
