BTS will return in March, HYBE source claims

BTS perform in 2022

New reports claim that BTS are planning on making a comeback in March 2026.

The news comes as all seven members of the iconic K-pop group will have completed their mandatory 18-month military service by this weekend. Jimin and Jungkook were discharged from the South Korean military last week, shortly after RM and V also completed their mandatory service. Jin was discharged last summer, with J-Hope following suit in October.

Earlier today (June 18), their label Big Hit issued a statement on Suga‘s impending discharge too, suggesting that it will be as soon as this weekend.

With the mandatory service completed, rumours are already rising about when the band are planning on taking to the stage again and resuming their full-scale activities.

Speaking to The Korea Herald, an anonymous source for HYBE – the South Korean entertainment company known for managing huge names including BTS – has reportedly said that a run of “comeback” dates has already been planned for “March next year”.

The news outlet also said that two other sources from overseas echoed similar statements, and suggested that the huge group were eyeing up spring 2026 for their comeback.

“While the exact date is unknown, I think it will be mid-March,” one said. “I heard BTS is returning in the same month as their brother group Tomorrow X Together… It could be BTS first, then TXT — or the other way around.”

Another added fuel to the flames, claiming to The Korea Herald that former NME Cover stars Enhypen were also planning for a number of shows in March 2026, but have already rescheduled those to January to avoid overlap with the alleged BTS comeback.

It’s worth noting that, while multiple anonymous sources have suggested that a BTS return is slated for next spring, neither the label nor the band themselves have made any comment about a return.

Suga’s upcoming discharge will make him the last BTS member to complete different forms of mandatory national service. He was the only member to not serve in the military due to a prior shoulder injury.

BTS went on hiatus in 2022, so that its members could fulfil their mandatory service and “explore some solo projects”. One of the most recent of which was Jin releasing his second solo project, titled ‘Echo’.

Following his discharge, V hinted at a BTS, saying in an interview with Apple Music 1: “I look forward to June when our members will have completed their service. We will quickly get together and talk about what BTS can do in the future. I think it’s going to be a massive energy.”

Before then, he told Weverse Magazine: “When we’re all back together as a group, it’s going to have a huge impact, and everybody’s going to be watching. I’m excited to see what it’ll feel like when we perform together again. I want to come back in style and say, ‘This is us. This is BTS.’ I can’t speak for everyone, but I can tell you the other members feel the same way.”
