Bryan Mbeumo set to have his United medical next week as he finalises switch from Brentford – report

Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo is set to have his Manchester United medical next week as he looks to finalise his switch to Old Trafford.

United identified Mbeumo as one of their top targets to slot into one of the two number ten positions in Ruben Amorim’s 3-4-2-1 system, alongside new signing Matheus Cunha.

Earlier this month, the Red Devils lodged an initial bid worth a total £55m for Mbeumo, but this was swiftly turned down by Brentford.

United then sent in an improved offer, which was stated to be in excess of the £60m that Brentford value their talisman at. A subsequent report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that the Bees were inclined to accept this latest proposal, although they still wanted to negotiate the finer points of the bid, such as add-ons.

It was stated that Brentford are eager for the bonuses to be easily achievable in order to guarantee themselves more payments down the line.

More recently, it emerged that United had reached a “basic agreement” with the London club for Mbeumo, with the total package valued at an eye-catching £65m.

This is £2.5m more than the value of Cunha’s release clause, which Amorim’s side triggered to facilitate his exit from Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Now, talkSPORT journalists Alex Crook and Ben Jacobs have revealed that Mbeumo’s medical at United has already been scheduled.

Crook wrote on X, “Bryan Mbeumo medical at Manchester United expected to take place next week.”

It’s believed Mbeumo is in line to earn around £150,000 a week at United – a sum which represents a sizeable increase on what he currently earns at Brentford.

If all goes to plan, the Cameroonian will become the second signing of Amorim’s first summer in charge of the 20-time English champions.

The deal will also make Mbeumo Brentford’s most expensive sale, eclipsing the £40m earned from Ivan Toney’s move to Al-Hilal in 2024.
