Beach Boys co-founder Brian Wilson passed away at 82 earlier this month, and now his cause of death has been revealed. TMZ obtained his death certificate, issued by the Los Angeles County Department of Health, where “respiratory arrest” is listed as his main cause of death. Sepsis and cystitis are also listed, with neurodegenerative disorder, obstructive sleep apnea, chronic respiratory failure and chronic kidney disease as associated factors.
Wilson’s family revealed that he was suffering from dementia in February of 2024, and he was placed under a court-ordered conservatorship in May of that year.
Paul McCartney, Elton John, Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, John Cale, Mick Fleetwood, Carole King, and his Beach Boys bandmates Mike Love and Al Jardine are among the numerous artists who have paid tribute to Wilson following the sad news of his death.
