Brad Pitt returns in ’70s grindhouse-style first trailer for ‘The Adventures Of Cliff Booth’

Once Upon A Time In Hollywood

A first teaser trailer for Once Upon A Time In Hollywood sequel The Adventures Of Cliff Booth has been released.

The new Netflix project will see Brad Pitt return as the titular stuntman from the 2019 Quentin Tarantino movie, and while the director will be back to write, the follow-up will instead be helmed by David Fincher.

A first look at the film was unveiled during last night’s (Sunday February 8) Super Bowl, opening with Booth speaking about the original film’s violent denouement.

“I don’t possess many talents, but I know better than getting in the way of a good story,” he tells Elizabeth Debicki’s character.

The ’70s grindhouse-style trailer then shows clips of Booth around Hollywood, while giving glimpses of new characters and violent scenes.

While Leonardo DiCaprio isn’t expected to return as Rick Dalton, the new film will include new cast additions Carla Gugino, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Timothy Olyphant and Scott Caan.

Last year, Tarantino opened up on why he would not be directing The Adventures Of Cliff Booth on The Church Of Tarantino podcast.

“I think me and David Fincher are the two best directors,” he said. “So the idea that David Fincher actually wants to adapt my work, to me, shows a level of seriousness towards my work that I think needs to be taken into account”.

Pitt earlier told Deadline of the change of director: “This is something Quentin Tarantino wrote. It’s an episode, not really a sequel, of the character from Once Upon A Time. He didn’t want to direct it at this point, so our friend David Fincher stepped in.”

Once Upon A Time In Hollywood follows Pitt’s character Booth and movie star Dalton in 1969 Hollywood amid the looming threat of the Tate murders. It was a critical and commercial success, with Pitt earning an Oscar for his performance.

Elsewhere, last night’s Super Bowl halftime show was headlined by Bad Bunny, the star making history as the first Latin male artist and first performing primarily in Spanish to do the prestigious show. The slot featured appearances from Lady Gaga, Ricky Martin, Pedro PascalCardi B, Jessica Alba and Karol G, and has since received widespread praise.

Bad Bunny also included a poignant message declaring: “God bless America”, as well as listing all the nations of Central, South and North America while dancers carried their flags, and a billboard message declared: “The only thing more powerful than hate is love”. However, US President Donald Trump hit out at the performance, calling it a “slap in the face” for America.
