Looking for a last-minute getaway to Europe before the new year? Well, you’re in luck! Spain’s national airline, Iberia, is offering 60% off award flights from major U.S. cities to Madrid, which means you can book a one-way economy seat for as low as 6,400 Avios plus applicable taxes and fees.
However, this deal ends Sept. 11, so you must book fast if you want to squeeze in a fall trip to Europe.
Keep reading to find out more about how you can book this flash deal to Madrid using Avios or your credit card rewards.

TPG tip: Did you know that you can also transfer Avios between the six programs — British Airways Club, Aer Lingus AerClub, Qatar Airways Privilege Club, Iberia Club, Finnair Plus and Loganair Loyalty — at a 1:1 ratio? Therefore, you can also transfer Capital One miles to British Airways Club or Citi ThankYou Rewards points to Qatar Airways Privilege Club to have Avios in those accounts, then transfer those Avios to Iberia Club to book this deal.

Editor’s note: Iberia’s website is not always the most reliable or user-friendly. More often than not, I was hit with an “error” message while searching for this deal and had to keep refreshing my screen before I could see fares. Therefore, before transferring any of your rewards, search for flights and take screenshots of award availability in case you need additional assistance and have to call to book this deal.

Bottom line
This is a great deal to Europe, especially for those who love to budget their points and miles. Booking a round-trip flight to Europe for less than 13,000 points or miles is almost unheard of, as most airline loyalty programs will charge double that for just a one-way flight. Plus, some even attach high cash surcharges to award tickets.
Even if Madrid is not on your bucket list, you can use this deal as a positioning flight to get you across the pond at a discounted rate. Then, you can opt to fly from Madrid to another destination — hello, German Christmas markets — using cash or points and miles, most likely at a more budget-friendly rate.
