Bangladesh Nationalist Party wins landmark general election

Bangladesh Nationalist Party has won Bangladesh’s general election, with leader Tarique Rahman expected to form the next government after months of unrest and economic disruption in Bangladesh. The vote follows the 2024 uprising that removed former leader Sheikh Hasina, whose party was barred from running, while rival Jamaat-e-Islami, led by Shafiqur Rahman, conceded defeat and pledged constructive opposition.
