AURORA announces “intimate” and “special show” in London to benefit War Child

AURORA has announced plans for an intimate show in London in aid of War Child.

The Norwegian art-pop pioneer will perform at the Union Chapel on December 10. Tickets go on sale at 10am this Friday (October 17) and can be purchased here. Before that, fans can sign up for a presale before 2pm today (October 15) here.

According to a press release, the show will focus on “two deeply thematic acts – Dusk and Dawn. Dusk will explore activism, humanity, and the power of people coming together, while Dawn will lift audiences into a space of emotion, hope, and renewal, ending the evening on a profoundly positive note.”

Each act will also feature “very special guests”, and during the interval, audiences will be invited to “experience cherished Norwegian festive traditions”, and can purchase exclusive limited-edition merchandise.

AURORA said: “I am so excited to work with WarChild on this special show. It will be emotional and intimate. I might even bring in some guests.”

She added: “It’s all so very exciting and mysterious. WarChild is such an amazing organisation, and I hope people will support the beautiful work they do. It will do us good to gather around a cause rooted in empathy, wrapped in the arms of music.”

Clare Sanders-Wright, Live Music Lead at War Child UK, also commented that “this event is a truly special opportunity, not only for fans to feel closer to the music they love, but also to help raise vital funds for children whose lives have been torn apart by conflict.”

Meanwhile, AURORA was among a host of artists who recently expressed solidarity with Greta Thunberg after she was detained by Israeli authorities trying to deliver food and medical supplies to Gaza.

It was reported that the environmental activist was enduring “harsh treatment” at the hands of Israeli forces, which prompted AURORA to post a tearful video appealing for Thunberg’s safe return.

Responding to allegations that Thunberg had been beaten and “dragged by her hair” by Israeli forces, she wrote: “All she has done is try to stand up for a whole nation that is about to die from being forced to starve.”

The Israeli foreign ministry rejected as “fake news” accusations that the activists were mistreated and denied basic rights while in detention, according to BBC News. Thunberg has since been released.

Elsewhere, AURORA was recently among the new artists joining the ‘No Music For Genocide’ Israel streaming boycott.
