‘Assassin’s Creed’ is getting a piano collection remix album

The music of Assassin’s Creed is getting turned into a ‘Piano Collection’ remix album.

‘Assassin’s Creed: The Piano Collection’ features a number of classic Assassin’s Creed anthems performed by pianist Nicolas Horvath. “Recorded on a historic instrument once owned by Nadia Boulanger, this album transports the saga’s iconic themes into a new artistic dimension while remaining deeply respectful of the game’s universe. A groundbreaking release that brings together musical ambition and video game culture,” reads a product description.

Released via Black Screen Records, ‘Assassin’s Creed: The Piano Collection’ launches on vinyl in May with one or two LP versions available to pre-order now.

“At its heart, Assassin’s Creed is a science fiction franchise and we always wanted to make a modern sounding score,” says The Flight’s Joe Henson about the score for last year’s Assassin’s Creed Shadows. “When we did Odyssey, we intentionally made the music sound older but for this one, we wanted to combine traditional Japanese instruments with something more contemporary,” so they looked at Western films and turned to acts like Wu-Tang Clan for inspiration.

“Hip-hop has taken a lot of influence from Japanese music,” added Alexis Smith.“We both came from pop music rather than a traditional film scoring background, so there’s also a lot of avant garde pop that we were listening to while doing Shadows. We just love anything that pushes boundaries a bit.“

Netflix are currently working on a live-action adaptation of Assassin’s Creed which begins filming in Italy later this year. Game developers Ubisoft have said they’re going to be heavily involved in the project to “deliver an experience that speaks to the heart of what fans love about Assassin’s Creed, while introducing its unforgettable worlds and timeless themes to new audiences worldwide.”

According to one report, Toby Wallace (Pistol, Euphoria) will star as one of the two main leads but will be playing an original character, much to the disappointment of video game fans.

In other news, Pokémon released a new 30th anniversary trailer during last night’s (February 8) Super Bowl 60, which sees megastars such as Lady Gaga and BLACKPINK’s JISOO sharing their favourite ‘mon.
