Angel Du$t have signed to Run For Cover (following albums on Roadunner and their own Pop Wig label) and their first release for the label is a 7″ called The Beat. They made it with veteran producer Brian McTernan, who also worked on Angel Du$t’s 2014 debut album A.D., and the title track features guest vocals from Taylor Young (of God’s Hate, Twitching Tongues, and much more). The digital version is out now with “The Knife” and “The Beat,” and the vinyl version is up for pre-order with a third, vinyl-only track: a cover of Bugg’s “I Don’t Wanna Hear It” that features Terror’s Scott Vogel.
Angel Du$t have made tons of different styles of music throughout their decade-plus-long career, and these two new songs find them embracing their aggressive, hardcore-informed side. If you’re a Rock on Fuck on Forever person, don’t miss these. Check out the Blaise Cepis-directed video for “The Beat” and stream “The Knife” below.
About signing to RFC, bandleader Justice Tripp says:
It was just so organic and natural. As long as I’ve been involved with music the RFC people have been friends to me and have been showing me the ropes, but I always kind of thought AD just wasn’t their bag and never thought about asking them about putting out our music. Then when it finally came up it just seemed like the most obvious right fit for us. I just hold them in such a high regard, and stylistically they obviously do a lot of different stuff, but I think it really makes sense: they’re creative, alternative, sometimes heavy–just like Angel Du$t.
Angel Du$t also have a lot of tour dates coming up, including an appearance at NYC’s CBGB Festival at Brooklyn’s Under the K Bridge Park on September 27 (with Iggy Pop, Jack White, Sex Pistols, The Damned, Gorilla Biscuits, Murphy’s Law, Scowl, Soul Glo, and more), as well as dates with Fleshwater, Ovlov, and Narrow Head.
