Loraine James announces new album ft Low’s Alan Sparhawk, Tirzah, Miho Hatori, more: hear “In a Rut”

Loraine James has announced a new album, Detached From The Rest Of You, which will be out May 8 via Hyperdub. It features contributions from Low‘s Alan Sparhawk, Tirzah, Miho Hatori (Cibo Matto), Sydney Swan, and Le3 bLACK x Fyn Dobson. Tongue in cheek, Loraine says it’s her “IDM popstar album,” adding, “I’m using my voice a lot more, and putting it higher in the mix than I usually would, I guess I’m growing some confidence.”

The first song released from the album is “In a Rut,” which features Sydney Swan. It’s spacey, adding rhythmic and vocal layers across its 4-minute atmospheric runtime. Check that out below.
