Greg Mendez announces new LP ‘Beauty Land’ & tour, shares “I Wanna Feel Pretty”

Over a decade into his career, Philadelphipa singer/songwriter Greg Mendez released his first music for Dead Oceans, the EP First Time / Alone, in 2024, and now he’s announced his first full-length album for the label, Beauty Land , which is due out on May 29. Most of it was recorded directly to tape in his home studio, and you can see the cover art and tracklist below.

He’s shared the lead single and opening track, “I Wanna Feel Pretty,” which starts out much like his bare bones First Time / Alone material before adding orchestration. Rhys Scarabosio directed the accompanying video, and Mendez says, “I spent most of my childhood in the suburbs, surrounded by the American Dream. Grand and lonely, strip malls and housing developments. Cathedrals of consumerism and reconstituted culture. The stores weren’t built for the towns, the towns were built for the stores. No one really belongs. The dream is close enough to smell but as soon as you reach out, your hand passes right through – a hologram of a promise. I hoped this video would feel like that.”

Mendez also announced a summer tour, which runs from June into July with Scarlet Rae, picking up later in the month and running through August with Maria BC. See all dates below.

The NYC show is at Music Hall of Williamsburg on June 30, and there’s a Kingston show at Tubby’s on July 1, both with Scarlet Rae. Tickets to those and all dates go on sale Friday, March 6 at 10 AM local.
