Brazil politicians convicted for ordering murder of Marielle Franco

Brazil’s Supreme Court on Wednesday (February 25) sentenced two former lawmakers to 76 years in jail for ordering the 2018 assassination of Rio de Janeiro councilwoman Marielle Franco, a popular black activist whose murder exposed deep ties between politics and organized crime.
