Gazans battle to salvage ancient books in war-ravaged mosque library

Working amid the dust and rubble, a group of Gazan volunteers are battling to save what remains of the collection of ancient books inside the library of the Omari Mosque. The mosque holds one of the oldest libraries in the Palestinian territories but it sustained terrible damaged during the war in Gaza, which erupted in October 2023 and devastated swathes of the Palestinian territory, including cultural and religious sites.
