“Negotiations are happening”: United favourites to sign PL monster, he would turn them into title contenders – reports

Manchester United kept their third clean sheet of the Michael Carrick era on Monday night as they battled past Everton 1-0 at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

United have managed this feat in six games, already more than the two they managed under former head coach Ruben Amorim.

Clearly, Senne Lammens and the backline are doing their job despite the rising injuries. However, it is also clear that the Red Devils need backup at the back in the summer.

Matthijs de Ligt’s injury problems are getting worse, while Lisandro Martinez’s body is frequently breaking down following a couple of serious injuries.

United need a defender

Luke Shaw’s record is well known at this stage, while Harry Maguire’s future remains up in the air. His current deal ends in the summer and so far, INEOS are yet to offer him an extension as multiple clubs circle.

INEOS would prefer a defender with Premier League experience, and according to multiple reports, they could go shopping in North London.

Tottenham Hotspur are dangerously close to getting dragged into a relegation battle. As a result, their best centre-back — Micky van de Ven has stalled all contract extension talks with the club.

As per Teamtalk, he will leave irrespective of whether Spurs remain in the Premier League, with Liverpool, Real Madrid joining United in the race.

United to take advantage of Spurs’ misery

“TEAMtalk understands that Tottenham Hotspur are NOT close to agreeing a new deal with defensive star Micky van de Ven, with contract talks on hold until the summer as the club battles through a turbulent period on and off the pitch.

“Dutch centre-back Micky van de Ven is expected to depart regardless of survival, with the 24-year-old eager for regular Champions League football.

“Manchester United have joined Liverpool and Real Madrid in showing strong interest in the composed defender, who has been a standout despite the team’s struggles.”

Hooligan Soccer have further revealed that the Old Trafford side are desperate to win the race and have already started negotiations over a summer deal.

Micky van de Ven would be perfect for United

“Liverpool was apparently van de Ven’s preferred landing place according to our initial report, but recent news indicates a different red team is now looking to nab him: Manchester United.

Having the Netherlands international play in tandem with either De Ligt or Lisandro Martinez would make United one of the title contenders heading into the new season. Now it is up to INEOS to pull it off.
