Red Bull chief ready to accept United’s club-record bid for mercurial South American – report

Manchester United enjoyed great success with their transfer activity last summer, with all four of their signings making a significant impact this season. The Red Devils invested over £200 million in their frontline, signing Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha, and Benjamin Sesko.

Meanwhile, the English giants also added Senne Lammens to their squad to strengthen their goalkeeping department. The Belgian has been a rock between the sticks so far and is quickly turning out to be one of the signings of the summer.

United’s attacking output has also improved following the exploits of their attacking trident this season. All four new arrivals have been key to the Red Devils’ recent rise, as they now sit fourth in the league table after 27 games. However, that has not stopped the Premier League giants from planning for the upcoming summer transfer window.

An eventful summer in store

United are expected to prioritise a new midfielder this summer to replace the outgoing Casemiro. The Brazilian has already announced his decision to part ways with the English giants once his contract expires at the end of this campaign.

However, the Red Devils are also in the market for a left winger, having offloaded Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho, and Jadon Sancho last summer. Garnacho joined Chelsea permanently, while Rashford and Sancho were sent out on loan to Barcelona and Aston Villa, respectively.

The English duo are no longer part of United’s plans and are expected to depart permanently this summer. United are already scouting the market for a talented winger with the ability to stretch the opposition, and it now appears that they could have an opportunity to sign one of the best players in the world for the role.

Vinicius to Old Trafford?

According to reports in Spain via Football365, Real Madrid could be open to Vinicius Junior’s departure to Old Trafford this summer. The Brazilian has long been linked with a move to United, but the transfer has not yet materialised.

However, Vinicius’ future continues to hang in the balance, with his contract due to expire at the end of next season. Renewal talks have reportedly hit a standstill amid the player’s demands for pay parity with Kylian Mbappe.

Los Blancos are preparing for a managerial upheaval of their own, having parted ways with Xabi Alonso earlier this year. While Alvaro Arbeloa remains in temporary charge, a permanent appointment is expected in the summer and it is believed that Jurgen Klopp is the frontrunner for the job.

The reports from Spain state that the German manager has already advised Real Madrid to accept a €150 million offer from United for Vinicius Junior. The Red Devils are reportedly ready to break the bank for the Brazilian this summer.

“Klopp, historically associated with playing styles based on intensity and well-defined structures, could prioritise players ideally suited to his footballing philosophy. In this context, a multi-million dollar sale would serve as a mechanism to generate funds and thus be able to enter the transfer market with greater force.”

Final Thoughts

While there is no denying that Vinicius could be a fantastic addition to United’s starting XI, it may be wise to take these reports with a pinch of salt. The Red Devils are prioritising midfield additions this summer and are expected to direct all their resources into reinforcing the position.

As such, it is unlikely that the Premier League giants would have the funds to afford such an exorbitant fee for the Brazilian. Meanwhile, the 25 year old has been embroiled in various controversies both on and off the pitch during his stay at the Santiago Bernabeu, which could be a distraction for a club looking to get back to their heyday.

Finally, the Red Devils have shown a preference for targets proven in the Premier League and despite his qualities, doubts remain over Vinicius’ ability to cope with the rigours of English football. If United are to invest such a massive amount in attack, perhaps someone like Morgan Rogers would be a safer bet.
