Stills from I Swear, Frankenstien, Sinners, Hamnet, One Battle After Another

Awards season is into the very thick of it now, with the 2026 BAFTA winners announced on Sunday.

Ahead of the Oscars, the 79th British Academy Film Awards celebrated an outstanding 2025 in movies, with this year’s ceremony hosted by Alan Cumming at Southbank Centre’s Royal Festival Hall in London.

One Battle After Another topped the BAFTA total nominations with 14, winning six including Best Film, Best Director, and Adapted Screenplay for Paul Thomas Anderson. Sinners had 13 nominations, winning three including Best Original Screenplay for Ryan Coogler and Best Supporting Actress for Wunmi Mosaku.

Hamnet and Marty Supreme had 11 nominations each; the former won two for Outstanding British Film and Best Actress for Jessie Buckley, with the latter going home with no awards.

I Swear‘s Robert Aramayo had one of the biggest wins of the night, beating Timothée Chalamet and Leonardo DiCaprio for Best Actor and taking home the EE Rising Star award. British films that weren’t as represented at the Oscars, including Pillion, 28 Years Later, and The Ballad Of Wallis Island, saw well-earned nominations, though without awards.
