If you’ve been online at all this week, you’ve probably seen Punch, the baby macaque in Japan who was abandoned by his mother and has since emotionally bonded with a stuffed orangutan. It’s the most heartbreakingly cute thing happening on the internet right now, and naturally, everyone wants to know where the plushie came from.
The good news (if you’re looking to buy Punch’s stuffie yourself) is that it’s not some rare collector’s item. Punch’s best friend is the “DJUNGELSKOG” soft toy designed by Ann-Cathrine Sigrid Ståhlberg from IKEA. There are more than 1,000 reviews, and most of them are super sweet, so this would definitely make for a great gift.
You can grab your own for $19.99. It’s a 14-inch plush orangutan with Velcro on the hands and feet so it can hang from shelves (or hug you back). It’s usually in stock, but given that Punch has gone completely viral — and the President of IKEA Japan just visited the zoo to hand-deliver a lifetime supply of them — I wouldn’t be surprised if these start selling out fast.
