Jesse Jackson: Civil rights leader dies aged 84

Jesse Jackson, the Baptist minister who helped spearhead the fight for racial justice in Americafor more than six decades, has died aged 84. Born in 1941, in South Carolina, Jackson rose to prominence as a close associate of Martin Luther King Jr. But it was his two bids for the White House in the 1980s that propelled him into the national spotlight.
