Bangladesh Nationalist Party poised for decisive win in landmark parliamentary elections

Bangladesh’s opposition Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), led by Tarique Rahman, was projected to win a landslide in the first election since a deadly 2024 uprising, local television channels said on Friday. Senior BNP leader Ruhul Kabir Rizvi claimed a “sweeping victory” and urged supporters to offer prayers instead of celebrating publicly.
