Bangladesh votes in landmark polls after deadly 2024 uprising

Bangladeshis voted on Thursday in the first election since a deadly 2024 uprising, with parties sidelined under Sheikh Hasina returning to contest power against a formidable political heir leading an Islamist-backed coalition. Long queues formed at polling stations in the capital Dhaka as voting began nationwide.
