Iran protest movement subsides amid intense crackdown

Protests in Iran have subsided after a crackdown that has killed thousands under an internet blackout, monitors said Friday, a week after the start of the largest demonstrations in years challenging the country’s theocratic system. Siavosh Ghazi, FRANCE 24 Tehran correspondent, said Saturday that security forces remain largely present for a fifth consecutive day as official media continue to report arrests of people described as members of terrorist groups.
