Immolation announce new album ‘Descent,’ share “Adversary”

We were just saying that we’re anticipating the new album that New York death metal veterans Immolation confirmed they’d be releasing this year, and now they officially announced it. It’s called Descent, and it arrives on April 10 via Nuclear Blast (pre-order). The band promises that “this album takes what we’ve done on the last couple of records and truly brings it to a new level. The material stays true to our roots, but also goes into some new territory at times, being somewhat ambitious, but taking nods from even our earliest moments.”

The first taste is “Adversary,” and it picks right up where 2022’s Acts of God left off, with a crisp, brutal, death metal assault that has these seasoned vets sounding as hungry as ever. Check out the song and its video (directed by the band’s own Bob Vigna) below.

The band also say they “look forward to playing it all live for you soon,” and they’ll be doing that on their recently-announced tour supporting Behemoth, alongside Deicide and Rotting Christ. That amazing four-band bill hits NYC’s Palladium Times Square on May 2. All dates are listed below.
