Wolves already fearing one United star will give them absolute nightmares on Monday night – report

On Monday night, Manchester United will travel to Molineux to take on Wolverhampton Wanderers.

After the frustrating 1‑1 draw with West Ham, a game many felt Manchester United should have won, the Red Devils will be desperate to bounce back.

Perfect game to respond

There is arguably no better fixture in which to do so than against a relegation-threatened side still struggling to find their footing in this Premier League campaign.

As United make the trip to the West Midlands to face Wolves, one of the key storylines surrounding the clash is how Matheus Cunha will perform against his former club.

Cunha has a point to prove

Cunha’s brilliance at Wolves earned him the big move to United. Yet at Old Trafford, he has not quite reached the heights many expected after leaving Wanderers. It remains early days, but the pressure is mounting.

Wolves, of course, know the threat he poses. He once ran teams ragged in their colours, and ahead of the Brazilian‘s return to Molineux, Jean‑Ricner Bellegarde has warned his teammates of the unfriendly reunion.

Cunha Threat

“Matheus Cunha is a good player, and we know that if you leave him with the ball and give him more confidence, then this can be a problem for the whole team,” said the Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder on the club’s website, reflecting on the Manchester United No.10 now lining up as an opponent.

Bellegarde: plan against United

Beyond Cunha’s danger, Bellegarde hinted at what Wolves must do to blunt United’s threat.

He said, “For us, we need to play closer to our strikers so we can help them grow in confidence, and push our defenders to stay tight and put other teams in danger.”

“We know they’re a good team, so we can’t let them play, and we need to put in a lot of energy and make things difficult for them.”

Must‑win for United

The draw with West Ham has made this fixture a must‑win for United. They cannot afford to drop further points in matches they should be winning.

Cunha needs to step up

Cunha has yet to truly shine in a Manchester United shirt. Just one goal in 11 appearances has been underwhelming, though glimpses of his quality suggest there are higher levels he can reach.

Monday night offers the perfect stage. He should have all the motivation to show his former employers that moving to United was the right step, and he can only prove it if he becomes a genuine problem for his old teammates.
