Fresh off putting on a killer set at this past weekend’s Best Friends Forever festival, LA screamo band Knumears have signed to Run For Cover Records and Summer Shade (the RFC imprint led by Fury member and Sound & Fury booker Madison Woodward). Their first release for the label is the single “Breaking Ground,” which is out now digitally and getting a 7″ release this Friday (10/17).
The new song was recorded by the prolific, screamo-friendly producer/engineer Jack Shirley, and it’s an intense offering that expertly toes the line between OG ’90s screamo and the genre’s new wave that Knumears themselves are already an important part of. Listen below.
The announcement calls the song “an intriguing hint at what’s to come from Knumears” and says to “stay tuned for more in 2026,” so hopefully that means a new album or EP is on the way. They haven’t released one (not counting splits) since 2022’s A Shout to See.
