Keanu Reeves has shared his memories of Diane Keaton, who passed away on October 11.

Many Hollywood names have been paying tribute to the actor, who died last weekend aged 79, with no cause of death publicly disclosed. The Oscar winner was known for movie classics such as The Godfather, Annie Hall, and Manhattan.

In 2003, she appeared in Something’s Gotta Give with Reeves, with their characters forming a relationship on screen. On Monday (October 13), at the premiere of his new film Good Fortune in New York, he shared his memories of the star.

“Total pro,” he told E! News. “She was very nice to me. Generous, generous artist and a very special, unique person.” He would also recall watching Keaton work with longtime friend Jack Nicholson on the film. “It was cool to be able to see her and Jack Nicholson together” he recalled. “Just with the history they shared and the way the fondness and love they had for each other. It’s really cool.”

Nancy Meyers, who directed Something’s Gotta Give and worked with Keaton on three other movies, took to Instagram to talk about the loss. “These past 48 hours have not been easy,” she wrote. “Seeing all of your tributes to Diane has been a comfort. As a movie lover, I’m with you all – we have lost a giant.”

She continued: “A brilliant actress who time and again laid herself bare to tell our stories. As a woman, I lost a friend of almost 40 years – at times over those years, she felt like a sister because we shared so many truly memorable experiences. As a filmmaker, I’ve lost a connection with an actress that one can only dream of.”

While no official cause of death has been given, friends of Diane Keaton revealed that her health declined rapidly toward the end of her life, however, she remained “funny right up until the end.
