Sleaford Mods share new single; watch Jason Williamson in trailer for Geoff Barrow’s upcoming film ‘GAME’

Sleaford Mods are back with their first new music in two years, “Megaton.” It’s a patented Mods banger and all profits from it will be donated to support War Child who help children affected by conflict.

The band’s Jason Williamson and Andrew Fearn say: “Megaton, No War No Death! Such is the weight of trauma, guilt and powerlessness in privileged societies that we squirm like an overloaded petri dish full of algae fed by the algorithm. Everything is wrong and everything as a reaction is argued to be right, and in this we give birth to behaviours that smother solidarity and cause mass waves of haemorrhaging alienation while the world quietly collapses offscreen.”

The video for “Megaton” was directed by Nick Waplington and shot in Speaker’s Corner in London’s Hyde Park. Watch that below.

In other news, they’ve just released the trailer for GAME, the upcoming thriller movie that co-stars Jason Williamson and was co-written and produced by Geoff Barrow (Portishead / Beak>). It’s also the first release from Barrow’s Invada Films which is an offshoot of Invada Records (which specializes in film soundtracks). Here’s the synopsis:

Late summer 1993. After stealing a stash of money and drugs, aging raver David (Marc Bessant) crashes his car deep in the woods – trapped in the wreckage, injured and helpless, he hangs suspended between life and death. When a mysterious poacher (Jason Williamson) discovers him, no rescue comes, only a watchful, unsettling presence that seems intent on letting nature finish the job. As the hours stretch and the elements close in, a tense and claustrophobic battle of wills, and wits, unfolds – where survival hinges on outlasting both the wilderness and the predator at its edge.

GAME was co-written by Marc Bessant, who co-stars in the film with Williamson, along with director John Minton (his feature debut), and graphic novel writer Rob G Williams who gets screenplay credit here. It’s out in the UK in November — no word on US distribution. The trailer looks terrifying and trippy. Watch below.
