Cursive’s Tim Kasher launches new trivia podcast Musical Puke (watch 1st episode w/ Minus the Bear)

Tim Kasher (Cursive, The Good Life) and Gwynedd Stuart (Sporked, “Good Mythical Morning”) have launched a new trivia podcast, Musical Puke. BrooklynVegan is proud to be the media sponsor, and here’s a synopsis:

Ever wonder how much music trivia your favorite musicians can stomach? Find out on this game show-meets-podcast that pits three band members against each other over three rounds filled with twists and turns, laughs, and (mostly) friendly competition. Listen or watch to find out who will end up in the Red Hot Seat – i.e. have to answer a really hard question about the Red Hot Chili Peppers – and who’ll walk away with all the Puke Bucks.

“Gwynedd is the funniest and smartest person out there, and we’ve been wanting to work on a project together for some time now,” Kasher says. “So when we came up with this music trivia show we knew the time had finally come to get off our buns and just do it. This game is totally DIY, which was part of the allure for us.”

“Tim is one of the most talented and prolific musicians I know (and I’m not just saying that because he’s my husband), but he’s really well suited to be a game show host,” Stuart adds. “When we first met, we’d play ‘Family Feud’ in the car and eventually we were on a game show together (Game Show Network’s ‘Chain Reaction’). People who know Tim’s music think he’s super serious, and this is such a funny way to reveal he’s basically Richard Dawson without all the weird kissing. Musical Puke is our way of saying, ‘Hey, maybe there’s a more fun way for bands to promote a record or tour.’”

The first episode features David Knudsen, Cory Murchy, and Jake Snider of Minus the Bear (who begin their Menos El Oso 20th anniversary tour in October), and you can watch it below.

New episodes will arrive every Tuesday through October 28, and also coming up on the first season are members of Thursday, La Dispute, Pile, Home is Where, 84 Tigers, and Laura Stevenson vs Chris Farren and Jeff Rosenstock. Stay tuned for those.
