As well as being an Oscar-winning actor, famous for films such as Oppenheimer and the series Peaky Blinders, Murphy has also been involved in music since his younger years. Recently, his former guitar teacher recalled the future star’s prowess as a musician, revealing he was in a teenage band that sounded like Fontaines D.C. and U2.
This past weekend (September 11-14) he was involved with Sounds From A Safe Harbour, a biennial arts festival in Cork featuring various mediums. Murphy has been involved with the event in the past, and is listed as one of the curators of this year’s festival.
However, he became one of the performers when he was captured on the decks at venue The Pav on Saturday night (September 13). In the clip, he is seen grinning and moving along to the music in front of a packed crowd.
The set comes during a busy time for the actor, as he promotes new Netflix drama Steve, as well as gearing up for the release of Peaky Blinders movie spin-off The Immortal Man, scheduled to arrive in cinemas between late 2025 and early 2026.
Recently, Cillian Murphy shut down rumours connecting him to the role of Lord Voldemort in the forthcoming Harry Potter series. “No, my kids show me it occasionally, but no, I don’t know anything about that” he said of the link. “I mean, also, it’s just really hard to follow anything Ralph Fiennes does. The man is an absolute acting legend. So, good luck to whoever is going to fill those shoes.”
