Zach Bryan and Gavin Adcock were involved in a heated confrontation at Oklahoma’s Born & Raised Festival over the weekend.

On Saturday (September 13), footage of the country artists locked in an intense verbal altercation emerged, with the two trading insults from opposite sides of a chain-link fence. When things began to escalate, Bryan climbed the barbed wire fence to get closer to Adcock, who then ducked behind security.

One clip shows Bryan running over to the fence while he appears to shout: “If they open up this fucking gate, I will fucking kill you,” to which Adcock can be heard responding: “Come on over here and meet me with a word of hell, buddy.”

Grammy-winning country star Bryan can also be heard telling him, “You’re a pussy online” and shouting, “Hey, do you want to fight like a man? Come open the gate.”

On Sunday (September 14), Adcock shared his take on the incident with fans on Instagram, saying he did not believe Bryan was “a very good person”.

He also claimed Bryan had ample opportunity to approach him all day, but waited until close to Adcock’s performance to do so.

“I don’t think anybody’s scared of Zach Bryan,” he wrote. “ I’m just an adult, and fighting him would only mean going to jail, missing my set, and falling into a Zach Bryan lawsuit. And we all know he likes to manipulate people with money. He knew where I was all day. He knew my set time. He knew where I’d be standing.

“And he created this whole ‘I’m badass’ jump-over-the-fence narrative just to try to make himself look bigger or tougher even though he could have just walked on in the gate. He had been in there all day. And at the end of the day, I know my decision I made was right. I didn’t take the Zach Bryan bait. And I’ll be praying for him to get better because he sure needs it.”

The confrontation marks the latest incident in an ongoing feud between the two singers, which began earlier this summer after Bryan disappointed a 14-year-old fan by not giving them an autograph.

In a now-deleted TikTok comment, Bryan wrote, “You’re not entitled after someone plays two and a half hours to a picture or a hello,” adding “GOMD [get off my dick].”

Adcock later responded on X/Twitter, taking aim at Bryan’s approach to the situation. “If you can’t handle the criticism of a 14 year old, why do people idolise you?” he wrote. “That kid was head over heels to meet you and spent/ parents spent a ton of money to see you. He’s got feeling too and a you’re a ‘grown man’ nearly 30. They’re the only reason you are around.”

Adcock later expanded on this view during an appearance on Rolling Stone’s Nashville Now podcast, in which he said: “It wasn’t about not wanting to sign autographs after a show, it’s like letting a 14-year-old kid rant, without saying, ‘Get off my dick.’

“You’re bigger than that,” he added. “I think Zach Bryan puts on a big mask in his day-to-day life and sometimes he can’t help but rip it off and show his true colours.”

In other Zach Bryan news, he recently performed at New Jersey’s MetLife Stadium, where he surprised those in attendance with a special guest in the form of Bruce Springsteen and Caleb Followill, frontman of Kings Of Leon. Together, the three of them – and Bryan’s backing band – performed Springsteen’s 1982 classic ‘Atlantic City’ from his beloved album ‘Nebraska’.

Later on in the night, Springsteen joined Bryan onstage once more, this time to close out the show with ‘Revival’.

Last year, the singer-songwriter and guitarist’s name was featured in the list of the Top 10 highest-grossing music world tours for 2024. Coming in at Number Eight, his ‘Quittin’ Time Tour’ reportedly drew in $199.1million (£156.9million). Others on the list included P!nkColdplayBad BunnyBruce Springsteen and The Rolling Stones.

He also recently teased a new film project called Motorbreath with Matthew McConaughey. He confirmed a new on-screen project was in development to celebrate his last “major label album”.
