Liquid Mike‘s new album Hell Is An Airport comes out this Friday (9/12), and it finds the band turning out one crunchy, catchy, power-poppy alt-rock song after the next. ’90s alt-rock is of course an influence, but that’s not the only thing that informed this album’s sound–bandleader Mike Maple broke down five of the album’s core influences in a new video for BrooklynVegan. Liquid Mike was also just named as one of 5 Michigan bands you need to know by Esden Stafne of Kalamazoo emo band Saturdays At Your Place, whose new album These Things Happen arrives this Friday as well.
