Macron appoints Defense Minister Sebastien Lecornu as new Prime Minister

French President Emmanuel Macron on Tuesday appointed Defense Minister Sebastien Lecornu as his new Prime Minister after François Bayrou tendered his resignation over a vote of no confidence. Lecornu, Macron’s third prime minister in the past year, faces the daunting task of passing the national budget through a gridlocked National Assembly.
