‘Kingdom Hearts 4’ gets promising update following delay rumours

Square Enix boss Tetsuya Nomura has given fans promising updates on Kingdom Hearts 4 and the third chapter in the Final Fantasy 7 Remake project following delay rumours

Kingdom Hearts 4 was announced back in 2022 and the only update fans have had since is a handful of screenshots that were shared after Kingdom Hearts: Missing Link was cancelled in May.

“We’re currently working hard on Kingdom Hearts 4 and will continue pouring ourselves into the game’s development. We’re dedicated to making this an experience that lives up to your expectations,” Square Enix wrote at the time. “We’ve seen how excited you are, and we are truly grateful from the bottom of our hearts. We are equally excited and can’t wait to share more about Kingdom Hearts 4 when the time is right. Until then, we appreciate your patience.”

Over the weekend, Square Enix boss Tetsuya Nomura took part in a Final Fantasy 7 Ever Crisis anniversary stream and responded to the “lots of comments” he was getting about Kingdom Hearts 4 (via Aitaikimochi). “We are making great strides and going according to schedule,” he confirmed. “So please wait for more information on that!”

He went on to say that the studio was making “great progress” on the third and final chapter of the Final Fantasy 7 remake project. Final Fantasy 7 Remake was released back in 2020 with Rebirth following in 2024. A release date for the final game in the remake trilogy has yet to be confirmed.

“We already have decided when we will make the announcement for it as well, and we will stick to that time schedule. So don’t worry, but please wait for it,” explained Nomura.

It was previously confirmed the third Final Fantasy 7 Remake game won’t be a PlayStation 6 exclusive and a planned expansion for Rebirth was scrapped so developers could focus on the new game.

In other news, a TV adaptation of Life Is Strange has been confirmed and fans want Wednesday’s Emma Myers to star. Myers recently said it would be “really fun” to be involved in the project.
