Japan’s embattled Prime Minister Ishiba to resign, media report

Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba will resign to avoid a split within his ruling party, Japanese media reported on Sunday, as members of his ruling party seek to hold a new leadership race following a disastrous defeat in the July parliamentary elections.
